Last time we took the Fuji-No-Miya-Guchi Route, on the south side starting at 2400m. This time we are taking the Subashiri Route on the east side that startes at 2000m.
The Subashiri Route is famous for starting off in the woods and then going up above tree line. Also the route up and the route down are slightly different. The down route supposedly takes one through a long area of ash that one can "run" down (some say it feels like what one would imagine walking on the Moon would feel like).
Since we have a bit longer trip, and wanted to take more time this trip, we have book a room (or a spot on the floor more like it) at the Lodge at Station 7. It is at 2960m. So we'll hike about a third of the way up, rest and then hike to the top, 3776m.
